Hope hospital Chakwal is vision of our Founder Trustee Haji Taleh Mehdi, who is dedicating all his time and efforts to accomplishing his vision. He has utmost determination to alleviate the pain and suffering caused through preventable diseases that he himself witness during his visits to district of Chakwal. This vision has been fully endorsed by all the trustees. Al-Ain is sponsoring Haji Taleh Mehdi to released this vision over the next few years or till the project is complete. We have already been focusing our activities to realise this project. The land for the project has been paid for by Haji Taleh Mehdi alone, and who will continue to support this project financially.
Hope Hospital Chakwal project is taking shape in small phases. Al-Ain's philosphy is to have healthcare functioning units as soon as economically feasible. Thou, we envisage our long term goal to build a healthcare complex to encompass and cater complete healthcare facilities for every underprivileged citizen of the district.
Hope Hospital is already catering for the following Clinics:
Free Eye Care Clinic
"To provide free eye treatment and ophthalmologic care to those with few resources, and also to take these services to areas with little or no access to regular health care."

Free Health Care Clinic
"To provide 24 hours emergency ambulance service across the district, free dispensaries, free wheel chairs, crutches and other services for the handicapped, family planning counseling and maternity services"

Hope Hospital Chakwal is vision of our Chairman Haji Taleh Mehdi, he is dedicating all financial resources to accomplishing this vision. He has utmost determination to see this project through to completion. The land for the project has been paid for by him alone, and he is continues to support this project through personal efforts both in time and financially. Hope Hospital Chakwal project is taking shape in small phases. Our philosophy is to have small healthcare units functioning as soon as economically feasible. Though, long term goal is to build a healthcare complex, in the shape of Hope Hospital, to encompass and cater complete healthcare facilities for every underprivileged citizen of the district. Our efforts, with support of people from all over UK, is slowly bring results, to date two healthcare units functioning successfully, and have served countless poor people free of charge peoples. Revenues cost for both clinic are wholly supported by Trust’s two Charity Shops in Nottingham. Capital founds are required for further construction and medical equipments, to date £90K has been spent on construction. It is estimated that another £100K is still required to complete the construction. Considerable amounts of Medical equipment has been sent to Pakistan, which includes over 100 beds, 2 operating tables, two X-Ray Rooms, Haig Streit Slit lamp, Lasag-Topaz Yag Laser, Cannon Flourescein Camera, 3 Storz Premiere Phaco Machine denoted by various NHS Hospitals, and numerous other items. We are confident that Hope Hospital will become fully functional as soon as construction is completed. Currently, two clinics are fully functioning at Hope Hospital, around 30 to 40 poor people daily visit these clinics.

These clinics are supported by two qualified medical physicians – a general practitioner and an Eye specialist, one mid-wife – to provide family planning counseling and maternity services, one pharmacist to operate dispensary. Since hospital, currently does not have secondary and tertiary facilities; such case are referred to either Rawalpindi or Islamabad with due financial support. Recently, funded kidney operation of 16 year old boy, only child of poor family, without it, he would have certainly died, as his parent could not afford the treatment. It is comprehendible that many such cases found on daily basis in poor countries, for us this is the motivating force that’s driving our effort to continue, and relief every little pain where possible. Similarly, our cataract removal operations for patient examined at the Eye Clinic, are again carried out at another hospital, since our own operating facilities not ready - we have all the necessary medical equipment, including Phaco Machine use in cataract removal operations as well as medical physicians to carryout surgeries.

Syed Mehmood-ul-Hassan Shah Khaki

Qalander Peer Syed Mehmood-ul-Hassan Shah Khaki is also renwoned as 'Mastwaar Qalandar'. It would be quite interesting to know that his family in Kashmir was also known as 'Matto' family. In Kashmir it means a family of those who are 'Masst', spiritually so much absorbed in Allah Almighty that
they lost their own existence and became one with Him. Therefore, in Punjabi, used in the suburbs of Chakwal, 'Mastwaar' also means the same as 'Matoo'. Like his father he is Hassani-Hussani' Syed, the line of Hazrat Ali (R.A).

Hazrat Da'ood Shah Khaki was a great saint in his line, twelve generations back to him. He was 'Qazi-ul-Qaza', the Chief Justice of Kashmir, in his times. He was also called "Abu Haneefa Sani", second Abu Haneefa, because of his sagacity and profoundity in Islamic-legal matters. By the spiritual inspirations of Hazrat Makkdoom Hamza Kashmiri, the 7th 'Sultan ul Arfeen', he resorted to 'Tasawoof', a spiritual practice to seek love of Allah Almighty. Under his spiritual supervission he observed a 'Chilla', a spiritual exercise to seek the love of Allah Almighty. He kept himself almost burried alive in a grave type of trench for four and half years. Thus, he become one with the dust. Hence, he received the tittle of Khaki, the one who has become one with the dust, by his spiritual guide and teacher Hazrat Makhdoom Humza. Since, then all the saints that succeeded him in his line were also called 'Khaki'.

Before the birth of Syed Mehmood-ul-Hassan Shah, Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jillani (R.A) foretold his father, Syed Rasool Shah Khaki, in a dream that "My beloved Mehmood is coming to you". Similarly, Syed Abdul Lateef, renowned as Imam Bari, also paid a spiritual visit in his father's dream and not only told him about the birth of Syed Mehmood-ul-Hassan but also suggested his name - Mehmood- ul-Hassan. Syed Rasool Shah Khaki (R.A) himself told his wife that they were going to have such a son as would have the spiritual capabilities of seven Oleya, saints. Besides, Syed Rasool Shah Khaki (R.A) added, that he would have seven stamps engraved on his body at the time of his birth. Consequently, on his birth Syed Mehmood-ul-Hassan Shah had those stamps on his body.

He is brought up under the strict supervision of his father in a completely religious atmosphere. Not only he has received education up to Graduation but also received proper religious education in a Madrisa of Khanpure. Besides, a series of marvelles, as reported by his parents, friends and his town-men, emanated from him. In short, when Syed Rasool Shah Khaki passed away in 1994, he took up the seat and duty of his father on 3rd November in a religious ceremony also attended by Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri. Since then he has devoted himself for the teachings and preachings of Islam and the betterment of mankind through his unbound love and affection. Besides, he is an ingenious poet and auther of many books as well.

Syed Ghulam Rasul Shah Khaki

Syed Rasul Shah Khaki got three names - one by his grandfather, the other by his father and the last by his mother. His grandfather named him Ghulam Rasul and his father named him Rasul Shah while his mother named him Munawar Shah. He was born on the 9th of Ramdan, Monday, at 'Zohar' prayers at a place called Bolaam in Sirinagar (Indian held Kashmir). As it was the sacrad month of Ramdan and being an inborn saint of Allah Almight, it is reported, that he did not accept mother feed till the apparance of 'Shawal' moon. It was the first sign of his being a true adorer of Allah Almight. Later, we find a series of consecutive spiritual incidents, almost transcendental, related to him that show that he was one of the favourits of Allah Almighty. He is a descendent of both Hazrat Imam Hussan (R.A) and Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A). By birth he belongs to the line of Shah Muhammad Ghoas Lahori, Syed Abdul Wahab Gellani (R.A) and Syed Abdul Qadir Jellani (R.A). He had his spirittual oath at the hands of Syed Abdul Qadir Gellani (R.A). He used to room deeply absorbed in his spiritual ecstacy in the vallies of Kashmir during his adolesence. Once, there, he met with Peer Shareef-u-din Rafeeqi, the Khaleefa of Peer Maher Ali Shah (R.A). Afterwards, before the partition of Indo-Pak sub-continent, he set out on foot through Bara Mula to the hills of Muree. There, he paid his respects of to Khawaja Qasim Moharwi (R.A). After spending some time in his service he went to Rawalpindi. He stayed there for some thime on Kahsmir Road. Then he intended to pay his respects at the shrine of Peer Maher Ali Shah (R.A). During his visit there he spiritually got confirmation about all those perdictions of Peer Maher Ali Shah (R.A) that he made to Peer Sahib earlier in one of his spiritual visits. Later he went to Amritsir. It was a time when he was leading a life of "Majzoobeait". Then he went to Lahore. There he paid his respects to the Srines of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh and Shah Muhammad Ghoas Lahori. Afterwards he went to Dhodha and from Dhodha to a small village of Chakwal named Mureed.

Katasraj temple

Katasraj Mandir (Punjabi: کٹاس راج مندر (Shahmukhi), कटासराज मन्दिर (Devanagari)) is a Hindu mandir situated in Katas village in the Chakwal district of Punjab in Pakistan. Dedicated to Shiva, the temple has existed since the days of Mahābhārata and the Pandava brothers spent a substantial part of their exile at the site. The Pakistan Government is considering nominating the temple complex for World Heritage Site status. It also proposes to spend about Rs 20 million in three phases for the restoration of the complex.
Most of the temples, located some 40 km from the modern city of Chakwal in the Potohar region of northern Punjab in Pakistan, were built during the reign of Hindu kings. These several temples were built around 900 years ago or more, although the earliest of the Katasraj temples dates back to the latter half of the 6th century A.D. Scholars believe that most of the temples were actually constructed when the Shahi kingdom, driven from Afghanistan when their ethnic cousin Mahmud of Ghanavi came to power, fled to the region and set up base there.
The mandir was abandoned by local Hindus when they migrated to East Punjab in 1947. It has always been the site of holy pilgrimage for people of various faiths. Even nowadays, worshippers from all faiths perform pilgrimages to the mandir every year and bathe in the sacred pool around which Katasraj is built. Santbetra Swami Ramananad Ji Maharaj used to visit this Lord Shiva Temple Once In Year. Betra was a village in Punch District. SantSahib ji had commitment with Raja Baldev Singh and never left this place . He was expired in 1950 and his samadhi is still in Nagithal ( Betra) & is popular as Nangapeer Ki Dargah.
Location
The Katasraj mandirs are located 40 kilometres from Chakwal District. It takes a little effort to reach Katasraj by road - one has to go off the M2 motorway - (Islamabad - Lahore) at the KallarKhar interchange. Then follow the road to Choa Saiden Shah for 24 km. just past the cement factory the road passes through the temple complex, with the major temple complex and the pond on the right. It is a picturesque sight.
Architecture
The Katas site houses the Satgraha, a group of seven ancient temples, remains of a Buddhist stupa, a few medieval temples, havelis and some recently constructed temples, scattered around a pond considered holy by Hindus. The temples at Katas are mostly constructed on square platforms. The elevation of the sub shrines seems to form a series of cornices with small rows of pillars, crowned by a ribbed dome.

Social services

There is only one government hospital in Chakwal city. Unlike other areas in Pakistan, Chakwal does not have women's hospitals that can provide gynecological diagnoses or services. Women who can afford it visit private hospitals in other cities of Pakistan.

Agriculture

Chakwal is a semi-arid area with a shortage of irrigation systems and water sources for agriculture. Over 70% of the population engages in agriculture, mostly subsistence agriculture dependent on rainfall. Most villages have no irrigation system.

Environment

Although the areas around Chakwal are free of pollution as there isn't much industry in the area, Chakwal itself is polluted. There is no government sponsored garbage disposal system, and citizens in urban and rural areas do not have proper means to dispose of garbage, particularly plastic bags. Most of the streets in the city and small towns nearby are littered with trash that results in infectious diseases in summer and rainy seasons. During Musharaf's regime three cement factories were constructed in the Salt Range hills.

Community service

There are several community organizations working in District Chakwal including the following:
  • The National Rural Support Program (NRSP) works in different sectors since 1996 in Chakwal District.
